St. Therese's Day Church Flowers

Project type

Floral Design

Date

1st October 2023

Location

St Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church Port Talbot

These were the floral displays that we created for St. Therese's Day on the 1st October 2023 in the beautiful St. Therese's Catholic Church Port Talbot.

The displays consisted of a circular meadow below a statue of St. Therese, a pedestal at the Lectern and candle arrangements along the altar.

The displays consisted of 100 exquisite Red Naomi Roses and Spray Roses. Since roses are the flower of St. Therese, we chose to create the floral displays with just roses, to compliment her famous quote; "When I die, I will send down a shower of roses from the heavens, I will spend my heaven by doing good on earth." ~ St. Therese.

The beautiful circular meadow below the statue of St. Therese acted almost as a 'cloud of roses'. From certain angles it looked as if she was floating above the roses, which was the affect we consciously created when designing the display. The lectern pedestal was triangular and symmetrical in shape and included a variety of textures; the velvet texture of the Red Naomi roses and the natural, wild texture and feel with the trailing Ivy, harvested from the church grounds to tie in with the local surroundings. Finally, the candle arrangements were created to finish off the whole design, using the roses as a massed base to the candle, with the trailing Ivy as an interesting detail, looping over the roses and creating enclosed space.

It was an honour to create and design these displays for such a special occasion for the church, especially considering that St. Therese is the patron saint of florists and is always close to our hearts with whatever floral work that we do.
